Dr. William Seeley, UCSF Neurologist and LLHF Grantee, Named as a 2011 MacArthur Fellow

Congratulations from the LLHF to Dr. Seeley for receiving this prestigious honor from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation!

William W. Seeley, MD, Associate Professor of Neurology in the UCSF Memory and Aging Center and a prior LLHF Start-Up Grant recipient,  was named as 1 of the 22 MacArthur Fellows announced on September 20, 2011. Each fellow will receive $500,000 over the next five years to be used at their discretion. The MacArthur honor "recognizes individuals for their creativity, originality, and potential to make important contributions in the future".

Dr. Seeley's research focuses on frontotemporal dementia (FTD) a family of  neurological syndromes usually afflicting people in midlife, and second only to Alzheimer’s as the primary cause of progressive pre-senile dementia.
