Seung Kim,
MD, PhD To address the need for replacement islets in diabetes, we propose to produce new human ES cell lines and to identify methods for production of islet replacement tissue. We anticipate that these approaches will provide the means to produce, or prospectively isolate, islet-generating cells useful for islet replacement strategies in diabetes mellitus. The primary focus of our network grant is diabetes mellitus. It is likely, however, that success in these projects will generate materials or experience that will impact other targeted focus areas of the Hillblom Foundation, including disorders of aging and developmental disorders of childhood. |
